Temporary Art in Public Space: Moment 2002
”Going public”
is the slogan of the international art series Moment. On
an annual basis, Deutsche Bank sponsors selected artistic projects that
take place in changing locations around the globe.

Rather than large-scale
sculpture in urban space or art in architecture, this series is concerned
with the creation of events that cannot be repeated and that reflect ideas
and situations in unique ways - in short: temporary art in public space.
In view of the increasingly virtual nature of banking business, Moment
delineates new perspectives: contemporary art encountering a present marked
by global networking and new avenues of communication.
Following the beginning
of the series with Ayse Erkmen's project Shipped
Ships in Frankfurt am Main, the German artist Karin
Sander continues the series this year in New York with her project
wordsearch. Over the next two years, artistic events by Tobias Rehberger
and Jenny Holzer will be realized in Venice and Singapore. In connection
with this, you can read excerpts from a podium discussion between artists
and curators which took place within Moment's framework at the Art
Cologne 2001, or visit our Moment-Homepage.
